WAEC Result – WAEC Withholds 7,871 Exam Results Over Malpractice

In relation to several cases of malpractice, WAEC has declared that the WAEC Result of 7,871 candidates, out of the total 73,424 that took the examination, are being withheld.



In a recent statement, Patrick Areghan, the head of the national office of the examination council in Nigeria, revealed that approximately 10.72 percent of the candidates who took the examination had their results withheld by WAEC due to various reported cases of examination malpractice.

“The cases are being investigated and reports of the investigations will be presented to the appropriate committee of the council for determination in due course.

The committee’s decisions will be communicated directly to the affected candidates thereafter,” the statement read.


In addition, WAEC has released the fully processed results of 72,265 candidates, which represents 98.42% of those who took the exam. However, 1,159 candidates, representing 1.58%, have some of their subjects still being processed due to errors committed by the candidates.

The council also advised candidates to beware of fake websites that may claim to provide WASSCE results and warned that such websites are fraudulent and should be disregarded. Additionally, WAEC emphasized that candidates should only access their results on its official website or through the result checker app. Finally, the council congratulated all the candidates that sat for the examination and wished them success in their future endeavors.
