The Central Bank of Nigeria Said on Tuesday 6th of March that Old Notes and New are now both legal tenders. This statement was disclosed by Dr. Isa Abdulmumin the Acting Director of Corporate Communications CBN.
He confirmed that despite the Apex Bank is yet to issue an official statement, banks have started issuing old naira alongside the redesigned new ones to their customers.
Dr. Isa clearly stated that “Banks are paying old notes as well as new ones. They are all legal tender.”
He continued that “Yes, the CBN has not issued an official statement on the issue, Anyone banks give to you, you can collect. We just want to make life easy for Nigerians.”
