New Date for NPC Census Training – The National Population Commission (NPC) has rescheduled the training for adhoc staff for the 2023 Population and Housing Census, which was previously planned for March 31. The training for supervisors and enumerators is now scheduled to hold from April 25 to April 30, 2023.

The announcement was made during a workshop on census processes and operations held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, attended by the Chairman and Federal Commissioners of the NPC. The workshop focused on critical steps towards the success of the census and a member of the NPC Census Publicity Committee gave an update on the status of census operations, emphasizing the need for effective oversight and coordination of the entire process at all levels.
The census night is set for May 2, 2023, while the field work is scheduled to take place from May 3 to May 6, 2023. The NPC also scheduled refresher training for DQM and specialized workforce at the state level from April 3 to April 6, 2023. The committee concluded on the census date, stressing the importance of selecting a suitable date that considers religious activities that usually occur in April. The NPC hopes that the preparations towards the 2023 Population and Housing Census will be successful and provide accurate data for national planning and development.
