The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) introduced the Bank Verification Number (BVN) in 2015. All Nigerian banks have a unique 11-digit number that they use to enroll new account holders into CBN’s biometric authentication system. You will know how to check BVN (Bank Verification Number) using your mobile phone.
You can open an account with multiple banks in Nigeria, but you can only use one BVN code with all banks. A bank confirmation number identifies every bank account and all financial information is linked to it. The system will capture your fingerprint, signature, and headshot during enrollment. Numbers can be checked on MTN, Airtel, Etisalat, and Glo networks.
